MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) – Laptop sales soared by 55% in 2020 to 140 billion rubles and 30% to 3.1 million units as Russians switched to remote work and studies because of the pandemic and popularity of computer games, electronics retailer M.Video-Eldorado Group said on Wednesday in a statement.

The average check amounted to 45,000 rubles.

“During the pandemic and the lockdown, Russians needed mobile computers for work, studying, and other daily online tasks as well as for entertainment – games, films, and the like. Laptops became essential goods,” Alexei Pomozov, head of the Home Office department at the seller, said.

Asus models were the bestsellers in units and were followed by Lenovo, Acer, HP, and Huawei.
